Tips on Finding Affordable Car Repair – Autos – Maintenance and Repair

11310665123 8d7645b4 Tips on Finding Affordable Car Repair Autos Maintenance and RepairFew people know anything about car repair, which puts them at the mercy of greedy mechanics or higher priced chain stores. You can avoid a bad deal and get a decent price with a few money-saving tips.

There’s nothing more devastating than seeing your check engine light come on when your wallet is empty. Finding affordable car repair can be challenging, but is possible. Small, independently owned shops fluctuate between the best and worst deals, depending on the character of the mechanic. Larger commercial chains may be more reliable, but the prices are mid-range unless you manage to find a decent coupon or discount. Regardless of which route you choose, there are tips to help you make it more affordable.

Choosing the right mechanic can make a big difference in your bills. Big chain companies are reliable and are much more tightly monitored meaning prices are fairly standardized across the board for labor and parts. That being said, compared to some independent car repair shops, their prices can run higher. For some people, peace of mind and some limited warranty options trumps the risk of choosing a smaller shop. There is little room for negotiation with larger chains, but you can do some price comparison by calling several different locations. You also have the option of sourcing the parts on your own if you have the time. Generally, they will suggest more expensive parts and quote you with the higher price. Ask them to break down all costs for you and check the internet to see if you can find the same part for less (and you most likely will). Bring this part in and you can save some big bucks, but won’t have to worry about the quality of service.

Dishonest seems to be the most commonly used description regarding independently owned car repair shops. However, there are plenty of honest mechanics, and even those that will work for deeply discounted prices for a good customer. If you know a little bit about car repair yourself, it can greatly improve your odds of finding an honest mechanic. If you’re truly hopeless, you can ask for recommendations, but stick to people who have a little bit of knowledge. Someone who doesn’t may have been getting ripped off for years and still has no idea. If you know the diagnosis already, you can even ring up several shops and compare estimates. Remember that no mechanic has a right to perform any job that has not been approved by you. If you find yourself with a bill for several “extra” services, you can dispute these charges if they were never agreed to.

There are plenty of shops that offer promotions, discounts, and coupons. First time customers often receive plenty of perks in order to keep them coming back. Some chains freely advertise and have discounts in newspapers, websites, backs of grocery receipts, or weekly coupon booklets. Not all locations are as forthcoming with lower prices, but it never hurts to ask. Check to see if they have any special promotions or if there are any coming in the next few months. If you are able to wait, such as for a regular maintenance routine, you may be able to save some money.

Paint Finishing Booths – Embodying Modern Technological Excellence

21310664275 e6da Paint Finishing Booths – Embodying Modern Technological ExcellenceToday’s automotive paint booth is a technological marvel. These come in various standard categories. You also have the option of ordering a customized version to suit your requirements. The standard types are the premier variety, a specially insulated variety, the full down draft, the semi down draft and the side down draft types besides the reverse flow and the front flow variants. The special premier variant among these paint booths is made of specially galvanized steel panels in 18 gauge. The panels are punched to precision and formed. This helps in fast erection work at your site. Also standard are white powder coating of the heavy-duty quality and modular fabrication of panels. Whereas the powder coating aids in reducing energy and maintenance costs besides providing a durable finish the modular panels provide an easy method of extending in height and length during customization. The heating and recirculating system is the direct variety that achieves a higher efficiency than the indirect variant. With the recirculation of the heated air further aiding in reduced fuel costs the net effect is one of a highly energy efficient system with significantly lower costs. In these paint booths, the air intake reaches right up to the ceiling with a filtration blanket of 10 microns. The change of filters is easy. The light fixtures are strategically located to ensure the absence of shadows in the working area. The provision of lighting with inside access means that there are no outside covers. This implies that the dust remains outside and the exterior has a clean look. The doors are insulated and of the threefold type. There is one door for personnel at each end. The windows have tempered glass with hinges that can be adjusted. Panic bars have been provided. These paint booths have an exhaust system under the central floor. The filters are easily accessed and disposed of. There is an option for a basement with ramps. The basement can be used in the full down draft spray booth so that you need not dig a separate pit under the floor of the building.

Buyer Beware!!

I have only one thing to say about this issue, SHAME ON YOU DEALERS!!!So many complaints have come in lately from customers. Customers need to ask for the OUT-THE-DOOR figure! What is it for dealers to hide such things as: Dealer Transfer Fee, Dealer Acquision Fee, Doc Fees. Do dealers really think we are that stupid? OK, so when consumers ask for the price of a vehicle from a dealer, make sure you ask for the Out-The-Door figure. You may be very unpleasantly surprised if you show up and end up paying 3-5K more when you walk out the door!! Just because the “ad” price was “cheap”!

Power Steering Pump Failure…or is it the Steering Rack?

21306957989 car Power Steering Pump Failure...or is it the Steering Rack?Has your car’s power steering suddenly quit working? If so, it could be that your power steering pump has failed. The unit itself may be shot or it could be a loss of steering fluid through a bad hose that is causing the problem. Regardless, you better tend to the problem now or you will soon be struggling with steering a car that seems to be working against you, not with you.

Before pump failure becomes obvious, you will usually hear buzzing or whining noises coming from underneath the hood. On the other hand, if you notice a gradual loss of power as evidenced by an increasingly difficult time moving the steering wheel [as when attempting to parallel park] or if you notice the problem when you first start up your car in the morning, then your steering rack may be going.

Steering racks fail gradually, but when they do you must take action before total failure occurs. Otherwise, control of your car becomes impossible and failure could then happen at any time, as in those times you are on the interstate. A real threat to your safety and to the safety of other drivers!

To find out if it is the steering rack causing the problem, check the power steering fluid closely to see if you notice small metallic pieces of metal floating around in it. If you do, then your steering rack is wearing out and the metallic pieces are the evidence that the rack is coming apart piece by piece.

Either way you slice it, you can expect that a major repair bill is looming for you. Not the news you want to hear, but not the news you have to hear either. Yes, taking your car in to your local garage or to your dealer’s repair department will cost you dearly. You will pay a mint for labor and pay a premium for a replacement steering pump or steering rack. High labor costs and huge replacement parts price mark ups are all part of the equation.

Fortunately, if you are even somewhat handy you can do either job yourself. Many weekend mechanics love grabbing a hold of their Haynes repair manual and with the replacement part at their side, go after the job. Of course, where you buy the replacement part can really matter, but strong savings can be gained if you shop online. Yes, auto parts wholesalers such as the Steering Rack Pros have what you want and at deep, discount prices. Reputable online wholesalers buy directly from the manufacturers and pass on big savings to you. No dealer mark ups, no third party charges. Just every day low prices on the parts you want and need.

So, go ahead and replace your power steering pump or steering rack today and save big on labor costs and replacement parts. There isn’t much better in life than to do a job yourself and gain a strong sense of satisfaction when you know you have successfully overcome a challenge and saved a bundle of money in the process.

This article will discuss the value of having coverage as well as several of the issues in automobile insurance estimates and how having a number of estimates can make you save plenty of money. It comes as no big surprise that you can be scammed or even overcharged by car repair centers; hence it becomes vital that you know places which have a good reputation about their work and in this way you can save your money and also eliminate pointless repair or needless charges.
2) If your car needs repair, firstly you need to take it to a repair center preferably the one which is not known to charge for estimating the approximate cost of the repairs which needs to be carried out on the vehicle. You can also ask them to explain in detail what parts need to be replaced or repaired and have a detailed record of the repairs. Once you get this estimate, you can approach other car repair centers and ask for the approximate cost so that you can compare the estimated charges from each of the repair centers.
3) Be sure that you get in touch with at least three repair shops so that you have three car repair estimates to compare.
If all the estimates which you received are more or less the same, then you can be assured that the estimates are fair and you are not being overcharged. However, if you feel that the estimates are a little overcharged, it would be wise to get in touch with other repair centers as well.
4) It would be a wise decision to request a summarized estimate of the car repair expenditure which should be inclusive of all itemized factors such as the repair, labor costs, flat fees, miscellaneous charges, basically a total summary of all charges. In case you have any doubt about labor costs, it is the actual number of hours which is required for repairing the car and this has to be then multiplied by the hourly cost for the repair service.
5) Always request a copy of the estimate in writing.  Then you will have written proof of the quoted cost in case if the final expenditure exceeds this cost.

Finding a Great Car Accessory

11310664418 mynewseatcoversformycar Finding a Great Car AccessoryA car accessory is something you add to your car to make it look better and to add some style. Many people want a cool car accessory to accent their car. A car accessory can make your car look great. A car accessory can help you to personalize your car. Whatever your reason may be for purchasing a car accessory, you will surely enjoy doing it.

A car accessory can often be pricy. But before we get into that kind of a car accessory, let’s start with the cheaper ones. A cheap car accessory that many people enjoy is stickers. This car accessory can be a funny statement, a social cause, or an achievement. Another inexpensive car accessory is bobble heads. They are often of famous people or silly animals. These are always funny to look at.

A car accessory is sometimes a necessary thing. An example of this kind of a car accessory is floor mats. Floor mats can either be plain colored or have a catchy design. Another often needed car accessory is air fresheners. As you know, cars can get smelly. Many people find this car accessory to be a blessing.

Now we will move on to the more expensive kind of car accessory. This type of car accessory is often electronic in nature. An electronic car accessory can be a blacklight, neon headlights, CD player, or even a DVD player to keep the kids quiet while you are trying top drive. A similar car accessory would be to add a playstation or an Xbox to your car with a television unit to play on. This car accessory is not recommended because it can be ever so distracting to the driver.

Another expensive, yet sometimes necessary car accessory is an in dash GPS (global positioning system). A GPS helps many drivers get to and from various locations. It is kind of like an onboard automated map. A GPS can cost you between $500 and $1500 so you must decide on if you really need it. Another example of an expensive car accessory is a radar detector. This helps drivers know when a police officer may be nearby looking for speeding cars. A radar detector alerts you so you can slow down and avoid a speeding ticket. A radar detector is not really needed unless you are the type of person who likes to speed.

Car Repair: Some Tips To Extend The Life of Your Car – Autos – Maintenance and Repair

21310664887 buddies016 Car Repair: Some Tips To Extend The Life of Your Car Autos Maintenance and RepairWhen it comes to car repair, the best defense is a good offense. Automobiles are complex machines that require regular maintenance if they are to last. If you want to get the most out of your transportation, follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for maintenance, and see that you do so on time.

When it comes to car repair, the best defense is a good offense. Automobiles are complex machines that require regular maintenance if they are to last. Besides that, it is unsafe to let problems occur if you can help it. No one wants to be stranded out in the middle of a major highway because they failed to bring their car in for its regular tune up on time. Not to mention the added cost and frustration that comes with having your vehicle out of commission for days on end. If you want to get the most out of your transportation, follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for maintenance, and see that you do so on time.

Oil changes are a big part of automobile maintenance. The general rule of thumb is to take your vehicle in for an oil change once every 3,000 miles, or three months, whichever comes first. Some car repair experts say that newer cars can wait until approximately 6,000 miles in between services, but make sure you figure out your model’s recommendations before you attempt to stretch this on your own. If you stretch it too far, you could risk voiding any warranties you might have, or causing damage to the engine.

Having working, reliable tires is an important aspect to vehicle safety. Check the air pressure on a regular basis and make sure you are keeping them within the range of the optimum PSI. This is typically written on the wall of the tire itself, and may also be able to be found in the manual. Of course, if you’ve gotten aftermarket tires, rely only on what’s written on the tire itself to make a determination. Some people like to drive with the air a bit below the recommended specifications, but make sure this is acceptable for your driving conditions before you make such a decision.

Many car repair experts recommend never letting your gas drain to below a quarter of a tank. When the gas gets too low, it requires more effort out of the fuel pump, ensuring that it won’t last as long as it otherwise would. Obviously, this isn’t always going to be practical, but if you can get into the habit of doing it more often than not, your car’s efficiency will thank you for it. Follow the manufacturer’s recommendations when it comes to which type of gas you put in the tank. It’s nice to rely on 87, but it isn’t the best choice for some cars.

Finally, if you begin to see signs that you need car repair, don’t delay on getting your vehicle in to a mechanic. The longer you let a problem stew, the higher the eventual bill is going to be. One problem may also lead to other problems as well, so it is important to find a good mechanic and take care of any issues before they turn into something major.
